Intruments

Eletric guitar, 12 string guitar, keyboards, programming, composition, arrangement and most of the more incomprehensible lyrics - see Sensibility.

I studied music to the age of 18 but a career in the world of music did not seem to beckon so after a few years' consideration, I fell into the pulsating world of Information Technology where I still languish. Throughout the many intervening years I flirted occasionally with music but without any direction until a move to Kent brought me into contact with some of the simarly-minded, good folk who you will find within these pages.

The first band I really enjoyed were Deep Purple; I think it was the classically-influenced aspects of both Jon Lord's keyboards and Ritchie Blackmore's guitar that appealled to me rather more than the more blues-influenced Led Zepplin.  There were also hints of progressive rock amidst the hard rock - Jon Lord's wonderful layered, Bach-infused keyboard solo on Burn being a favourite moment (sorry Ian).

Other bands from the 70s I enjoed (and still do): Rainbow, Genesis, Yes, King Crimson and of course Pink Floyd.

I'm a big fan of modern progressive music - Steven Wilson being a particular favourite in his various prjects, along with Muse, Flying Colors, Transatlantic, Steve Hackett (both new and old music), some of The Enid'smore recent work, Amathema, Katatonia, Dream Theater and more.  I'm also not averse to a bit of metal - Rammstein and Tool for example.
